Dr Yuryj Kostirko is a dentist at Toowoomba Dental, known for his calm approach, clear communication, and genuine care for his patients. Originally from Toronto, Canada, Yuryj later moved to Ottawa where he completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counselling and Spirituality at the University of Ottawa. During this time, he also served as a naval reservist and worked as an emergency medical responder on the Rideau Canal Skateway, the world’s largest outdoor skating rink. After graduating, Yuryj spent several years working with vulnerable children and families. This experience helped shape his compassionate, patient-focused approach to healthcare, which he carries into his role as a dentist caring for patients and families at Toowoomba Dental.
Drawn to Australia’s outdoor lifestyle, Yuryj relocated to Queensland and decided to pursue a career in dentistry to combine his passion for helping people with practical, hands-on healthcare. He completed his Bachelor of Dental Health Science and Master of Dentistry at Griffith University.
While studying on the Gold Coast, Yuryj founded Food First, a charitable initiative providing food and clothing to people experiencing hardship in the local community. His commitment to supporting others continues to guide the way he cares for his patients today. At Toowoomba Dental, Yuryj focuses on helping patients feel comfortable, informed, and confident in their treatment. He takes the time to explain procedures, answer questions, and create a relaxed environment for patients who may feel anxious about visiting the dentist.
Yuryj enjoys all areas of dentistry, with particular interests in oral surgery and restorative treatments such as crowns and bridges. His goal is always to deliver high-quality dental care while ensuring patients have a positive experience at the dentist.
Outside the clinic, Yuryj enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors. He is a keen runner and also enjoys gym training, tennis, and hiking.
